We maintain a computerized appointment schedule which allows us to efficiently and accurately make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate your scheduling needs when possible.
Emergencies are accepted whenever our hospital is open and our doctor available. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call ahead so we can advise you on the best way to handle your particular emergency.
During the examination for both well and sick pets, we start by recording vital signs such as weight, temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate. During the physical examination, the doctor will evaluate the eyes, ears, oral cavity and teeth, heart and lungs, "palpate" or feel abdominal organs, assess skin and hair coat, and assess mobility and pain. Specific concerns or ailments are then addressed in depth. Diagnostics may be recommended, and wellness screening is both recommended and available by request.
We have a veterinarian and support personnel on duty 5 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Emergencies can range from poisoning to trauma such as hit by car. If you believe your pet needs emergency treatment call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
Dr. Husted performs a wide range of surgical procedures from elective spays and neuters to complex tumor removals, trauma care and reconstruction, exploratory surgeries, and some orthopedics.
Our surgical laser is an excellent tool which replaces the conventional blade for incising tissues. Because it cauterizes tissues as it cuts, the result is less bleeding, less post operative swelling, and dramatically less post operative pain. It facilitates many delicate procedures such as repair of defective eyelids, elongated soft palates, stenotic nares (tiny nostrils) and tumor removals.
Good oral health is essential to your pet's comfort, nutrition, and overall good health. We offer routine dental cleaning with ultrasonic scaling and polishing. Our digital dental x ray system produces detailed images of the jaw and tooth roots. It allows us to see root abscesses, fractures, and tumors below the gum line. Oral surgeries include extraction of severely diseased or damaged teeth, surgical removal of tumors or foreign bodies, and repair of jaw fractures and dislocations. We are happy to answer your questions about home dental care and its importance in the overall healthy and well being of your pet.
